And in other news, I have a new whole-body exercise regime! It's sort of like kettle bells, but it's done with a weight on the end of a stick... Gets me outdoors into the natural light a few hours a week too, so should be very good for my winter mood.

also a good workout, but the things are dashed expensive to buy. And I haven't had the time and tuits yet to weld bent rebar to a shot put.

I am perfecting my overhand-catapult technique for extra height in the throw, due to PILES TALLER THAN ME

Ugh. I keep wondering how many winters of shoveling weekly multi-foot snowfalls I have left in me before I expire of a heart attack while shoveling.

you don't typically get heart attacks from *regular* exercise dude. that's the point ;)

you're more likely to die of an brain aneurysm, isn't that comforting? :)

Tell it to Jim Fixx. (the man who popularized running back in the 1970s, died of, guess what, while doing, guess what)

LOL -- Its a great workout -- except my right arm is getting bigger than my left! I've been trying to switch to my other side, but it is a bit awkward. As is trying to throw snow UP on TOP of a pile already 4-6 feet high!

Sounds like that training montage from "Rocky IV".

No credit for shoveling?

While helping others clearing snow out a parking lot, I heard a fellow snow mover mention that his company did not give any exercise credits for snow shoveling. I am puzzled, particularly since I did not have an opportunity to ask for clarification of the comment.

Are there employers who give out points for exercise? If so, do these points have any impact beyond the basic record keeping?

Why would snow shoveling be excluded from such an system?
