Pacifica Radio had some interesting dirt(history) about Gates, the appointee for Rummy's job... apparently he was one of the Class of Iran Contra in the CIA, that is nothing got pinned on him directly but everyone figures he was in the thick of it (that's "secretly supplying arms to Saddam and others", for those of us not up on the history). And that he failed to have his first chance at appointment to head the CIA confirmed, on account of being notorious for "spinning" the facts to suit the republican agenda, when he was a deputy.

So maybe not a goofy Neocon, but an old-school dirty-dealing right-winger. And P had a good theory as to why the personnel change Suddenly Right Now- so he can still be confirmed by the lame duck Republican Congress!

Still up to their old tricks... Hope we can make some changes soon!

From MoveOn.org:

"Monday, Senator Russ Feingold introduced a resolution to censure President Bush for breaking the law by illegally wiretapping American citizens.

Censuring a sitting president is serious business. But when the president misleads the public and Congress while willfully and repeatedly breaking the law, there must be consequences—that's how the law works for everybody else.

While most politicians sat back and weighed the political pros and cons of holding the president accountable, Senator Feingold stuck his neck out and did it. Now it's up to us to show broad public support. Can you sign our petition asking Congress to join the call for censure?

As of thursday morning: they have 80% of signatures needed!

This in from MoveOn.org:
Apparently the Bush administration official in charge of making sure America is ready for an avian-virus based influenza pandemic has no experience related to his job—he's a political appointee.

click here to fill out their petition asking for him to be replaced with a more qualified person.
